The Toughest Mission of His Career... Her
The Christmas season isn’t looking great for April Gareaux. Her job is uninspiring, her engagement is off, and she has nowhere to live. Certainly her family would take her in, especially Leslie and Grady Roberts and their circle of friends who have become her extended family. But it’s time she stops relying on them.
Then comes an extraordinary offer – spend the holidays in Washington, D.C., with King Jozef of Bariavak as his possible long-lost granddaughter. Even more extraordinary is the man behind the offer and the one who will be beside her through the coming weeks, diplomatic security agent Hunter Pierce.
This is the last assignment Hunter would pick. Determination and grit have moved him beyond his past in Bariavak. Yet, here it is standing in front of him again, refusing to be ignored. … Just like his reactions to April. How can he fight what he’s feeling when they’re together all the time.
King Jozef has known tragedy in his life. Now, comes this lovely young woman bringing joy to his holidays. How can he resist dabbling in some royal matchmaking. Wouldn’t it be delightful if he could give April a Christmas gift she will never forget… Her Prince for a Lifetime

Although this reads as a modern day “fairy tale” with some things just falling into place a little too neatly, for the most part the story is enthralling and keeps you entertained throughout. I myself was hooked from the start and intrigued by the main character of Hunter “impenetrable” Pierce, an agent for the State Dept. He’s the tall, dark, handsome, brooding type who doesn’t allow anything or anyone to get through his defenses or interfere with his lifestyle. Then there’s April Gareaux, whom we are introduced to in Grady’s Wedding – book 4 of this series. She’s the warm, charming, funny open “free spirit” type who easily makes friends and embraces meeting new people. These two are completely different and you know it will be fun watching them interact and seeing how April can break down the barriers Hunter has kept up so many years. The background story here is really very good and there are some poignant emotional events to pull at the heartstrings and evoke tears. There are several heartwarming and funny moments sprinkled throughout with cameo appearances of the characters from the previous books. I admit I found the love scene more “shocking” than “romantic” at first, esp. when most of this book is “benign” in this matter, but the biggest disappointment for me was the ending, as though the author “metaphorically” ran out of “ink”. A quick wrap up, and then you are left in mid-thought almost mid-sentence. Didn’t truly understand what that’s about – unless she is leaving room for a new story... Overall, however, this one is worth reading, and rereading several passages over and over again. Worth taking a chance.Product details

The Christmas Princess The Wedding Series Book 5 edition by Patricia McLinn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed this book and the Christian themes. Beautiful story.
I bought the first 3 books in The Wedding Series by Patricia McLinn because Book Bub had a deal on the set. I had never read anything by her before, but I thought I'd give it a chance. I loved them and couldn't wait to read the next book. I searched on and found THE CHRISTMAS PRINCESS (Book 4 in the series) and bought it. Patricia McLinn's writing keeps you engaged and wondering what's coming next. I both laughed and cried while reading the book.
Now I can't wait to read Katie's story (not out yet)...
The Christmas Princess is another fantastic book in The Wedding Series written by author Patricia McLinn. All so far have interesting characters, humor and very emotional stories.
For myself
Good reading from this author. I enjoyed the book and the development of the characters. You get so drawn in with the story line that the one more page happens and you don't realize it. I enjoyed the former characters making appearances filling out the story.
I really enjoyed this book. I had read the other three books previously. I haven't read a book by Patricia that I haven't loved. The interaction between April and the King was very touching. The chemistry between April and Hunter was sizzling. I didn't want to quit reading to go to sleep.
I really enjoyed this story. April is very tender-hearted and does not like to lie. Hunter is tasked with persuading her to pretend that she is the long-lost (kidnapped) granddaughter of a king. She manages to bring happiness to the king and discovers a mutual love with Hunter. There was one sexual incident, but it was quite mild. I enjoyed getting to know the new main characters, as well as the King and Madame. I liked all of them. It doesn't hurt that a large part of the story takes place at Christmastime. You won't regret the time spent reading this book. If you are like me, you will find that you can't stop turning the pages, reading chapter after chapter. I found it very hard to put down my . Enjoy!
